Girls Track and Field Compete at IHSAA Regional

The Westfield Shamrocks competed in the IHSAA Track and Field Regional last Tuesday at Lafayette Jefferson High School and came away with some great performances that will see many Rocks headed to the State Meet on Saturday June 7th! The 4x800 relay got the night started for Westfield when the team of Mackenna Condon, Jordyn Landrum, Maggie Naas, and Alivia Lozier placed 4th in a season best time of 9:26.40 that also earned them the 1st callback time for state qualifying. In the field events, Jolie Miller and Gracie Czubik both scored in the high jump with Miller placing 5th and Czubik 8th to earn points for the Rocks. The pole vaulters stole the show as both Rocks placed in the top 4 with Alex Hamilton placing 2nd matching her PR of 11'9" to automatically qualify for state, and Ella Jenkins placed 4th but by setting a new PR of 11'3", she hit the state standard that automatically sends her to the state meet! In the 3200, Alivia Lozier doubled back well and lead much of the race before finishing 4th and lowering her outdoor school record to 10:49.31, but got the 3rd callback time in the process and will also be advancing to compete at the state finals! The 4x400 relay team of Jordyn Landrum, LeAsia Warren, LeBraya Warren, and Gracie Czubik continued their strong postseason push by placing 3rd in a time of 3:57.53, hitting the state standard and with the 3rd place finish automatically advancing to the state finals while racing to the 3rd best relay time in school history. Westfield will send a significant group to the State Finals on Saturday June 7th at North Central High School where the meet will begin at 3:00pm. Come out and support the team as they compete against the State's best in the final meet of the year! Go Rocks!
