This past Saturday, your freshmen Shamrocks football team took to the gridiron to battle the Zionsville Eagles. The Rocks got off to yet another fast start, with Everett Virgona punching in a score for the early touchdown lead. Cooper Simmons’ inspired return work set the offense up with good field position, and they took advantage with a touchdown strike from Luke Drow to Kobe Byron-Dalton. A 2 point conversion gave Westfield the 15-6 halftime advantage. The freshmen Rocks started the second half even quicker, with Blake Richardson scoring on a defensive pick six, and Drow throwing his second touchdown pass of the day, this time to Damarius Stone. The Rocks were now rolling 28-6. Unfortunately, the game was called short as storms rolled into the area, but it was a great day to be a Shamrock nonetheless. The young Rocks will travel to Noblesville this coming Saturday for what should be a thrilling competition with the Millers.
