The Westfield Girls cross country team competed Saturday at the Rick Weinheimer Classic in Columbus, Indiana. The Shamrocks placed first as a team in the varsity race and the JV race. There were many great performances on the day for the Rocks on our way to two team victories. In the Varsity race, Westfield won the team title with 71 points. The first finishers for the Rocks was the duo of Jenna Burns and Alivia Lozier placing 6th and 7th respectively with both runners breaking 19 minutes. Sydney Decker and Emma Pitney were the next scorers for Westfield placing 16th and 17th in the race. Mackenna Condon rounded out the scoring for the Rocks placing 25th to close the door on the team title. Remaining members in the varsity race for the Rocks were Ella Lidskin, Sam Foster, and Reese Holstein. In the JV race, Westfield came away with the team and individual win! The Rocks scored 23 points to beat the field. Carly Davis was the individual champion racing to a time of 20:58. Westfields next four runners all placed in the top 7 as Claudia Southworth, Sofia Grisel, Hayley Pitney and Lyla Osborn rounded out the scoring. Other Shamrocks placing in the top 20 were Sam Plummer in 12th and Ella Bozarth in 16th. Westfield will compete next at the IWU Wildcat Invite next Saturday. Let’s Go Rocks!
