Westfield track and field competed over the weekend in the Carmel JV Invite. Many athletes finished their seasons with solid performances as the Rocks placed 2nd in the four-team invite. The Shamrocks, while having no event winners, still had many events place high, contributing to the 2nd-place team finish. Addy Friermood started the day off by placing 2nd in the 100 hurdles, with teammate Makena Schwerin right behind in 3rd place. Sam Plummer placed 2nd in the 1600 in a time of 5:44 to score big points. The Westfield 4x100 team of Presley Perkins, Chloe Stuart, April Heckert, and Saigan McCray also placed 2nd in a time of 51.74. Phoebe Smith and McCray then placed 2nd and 3rd in the 200 respectively as the top placing duo. In the 3200, Izzy McCulloch placed 2nd with a 1 second PR running 12:03 for one of the best performances on the day for the Rocks. The final event also saw a runner-up finish for Westfield as the 4x400 relay team of Hayley Pitney, Olivia Pendygraft, Chloe Stuart, and Sam Foster placed 2nd in 4:19.61. Other scorers for the Rocks included Friermood and Schwerin in the 300 hurdles, Ella Bozarth and Sam Foster in the 800, Carly Davis in the 3200, Friermood also in the pole vault, and April Heckert in the long jump. Congratulations to many team members completing their seasons. Westfield will compete next on Tuesday at Carmel again for the Hamilton County Championships as we begin the postseason. Let's Go Rocks!
