JV Softball Opens Season With Big Offensive Night

Reese Mahannah drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Shamrocks past Carmel 20-1 on Wednesday night. Mahannah walked in the second scoring one, singled in the third scoring one, singled in the fourth scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one. Mac Delph struck out 12 batters on the day. Delph only gave up four hits and one run over five innings. The Rocks scored seven runs in the top of the second inning. Mahannah drew a walk, scoring one run, Hayden Rice drew a walk, scoring one run, Delph singled, scoring two runs, Alyssa Ayers doubled, scoring one run, and Ali Kainrath doubled, scoring two runs. Westfield scored five more runs in the fifth inning. Elaina Bottorff singled, scoring one run, Sophia Kovecsi walked, scoring one run, Lindsey Vaught singled, scoring one run, and Mahannah singled, scoring one run. The team stole 10 bases. Mahannah, Vaught, Kainrath, and Delph each stole multiple bases. The Shamrocks are back in action this Friday at home against North Central.
